What a great day we had on Saturday. It was a wonderful opportunity to support our armed forces and to showcase some of our amazing collections.
Together with a few volunteers we were able to show a record book of the Manchester Battalion (Service) Regiment. This is a detailed account of the movements of the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th battalions highlighting the battles and the horrors of the First World War. The record book contains some fascinating hand drawn maps of the battlefields.

Other items on show were the Evening Chronicle and Daily Dispatch newspapers. Our visitors were fascinated with the size of the papers and the amount of content included in each one. From stories from the front line to job advertisements for young children. The advertisements in the newspapers were of great interest to our visitors.

Joining us on the day were character actors who brought along original artefacts from the First and Second World Wars. Also, our face painter was kept very busy all day!
Visitors to our stand had the opportunity to leave messages of thanks, support or remembrance on our Armed Forces flag.
Thank you to everyone who came along to support the day.
