Can you find them all?

Manchester is now home to fifty eight brightly decorated book shaped benches. Every bench is different, lovingly designed by schools and community groups across the city in partnership with public art specialists Wild in Art.

Twenty four venues are hosting the colourful benches which feature characters from classic books including the Mr Men, Roald Dahl, Neil Gaiman and Elmer the Elephant. Visit the National Literacy Trust website to find a list of all the venues with addresses and opening hours.

There’s a free map too, so you can follow a trail between the benches. Download a copy of pick up a map from one of the twenty four venues. You’ve got until September to spot them all! And don’t forget to tweet a picture of you and your bench with the hashtags #bookbench hashtag.

The project is part of the Read Manchester campaign to promote the benefits of reading and is a partnership between Manchester City Council and the National Literacy Trust. Take a look at the beautiful book bench gallery featured in the Manchester Evening News this week. To celebrate the exhibition, there are lots of events taking place over the summer at the venues where the BookBenches are on display.
