Hulme had the very first branch library of Manchester’s free library – which was itself the country’s first free library. And free public access to books still matters here. Hulme High Street Library will remain open whilst Moss Side Leisure Centre has a major refurbishment. You can still visit the library and browse, borrow and return books.
The leisure centre will close completely for 12 months, but an access route to the library has been created using the front entrance before works began. The library’s opening hours will change for a temporary period of 12 months from 9th October 2017 during the leisure centre refurbishment and the library will stay open for 30 hours a week and for these amended times:
Monday 1-5
Tuesday Closed all day
Wednesday 9-1, 2- 6
Thursday 9-1
Friday 9-1, 2-5
Saturday 9-1, 2-5
