Experience a groundbreaking visual art exhibition at Manchester Central Library combining traditional painting with augmented reality technology. Scarlett Raven and Marc Marot’s stunning augmented reality project, The Danger Tree, opens on Monday 15 January.
The exhibition, presented by The Royal British Legion in partnership with Castle Galleries Manchester, features a series of paintings that narrate the heartbreaking stories of WWI through an immersive journey that features layers upon layers of paint, poetry and photos, made possible thanks to augmented reality technology. Each painting holds a different story featuring film, poetry and digital art that can be unlocked and enjoyed using tablets and smartphones.
This is a free exhibition, and iPads and headphones are provided for visitors to fully participate in the the augmented reality experience. You can also download the app onto your own device, but you’ll need headphones to hear sound and poetry. Original paintings plus prints are available to buy at the exhibition and you can see more work by Scarlett Raven and Marc Marot at the Castle Gallery on King Street.
