This Summer, Manchester Libraries are running Read and Feed lunchtime sessions at Gorton Library, North City Library and the Place at Platt Lane – Fallowfield. As well as directly tackling holiday hunger, this scheme also helps children’s literacy, as we sign everyone up to the Summer Reading Challenge – so each child gets an activity pack when they join, and a certificate and medal when they have read 6 books over the holiday period.

The scheme has proved extremely popular, with hundreds of children and their families flocking to the libraries to take part in a range of fun lunchtime activities, games, crafts and stories, before receiving a healthy, well balanced lunch.
