Henshaws is one of Manchester’s oldest Charities and has been supporting people with sight loss for over 160 years. A member of their digital technology team is now based at Manchester Central Library on Thursdays and Fridays delivering one to one digital assessments and training.
Are you struggling to read books, newspapers, letters or product labels? Do you find it more difficult to keep in touch with friends and family?
No matter what your sight level, from low to no sight at all, there will be a solution for you that will enable you to read text and keep in touch with people. Through a personal one to one chat, your needs are assessed and suggestions made on the best solutions for you. These may include but are not limited to:
- Electronic magnifiers, which allow you to adjust magnification and use different colour combinations and contrast.
- Smartphone and tablet devices, which are highly accessible and enable you to keep in touch with your loved ones. They will give you access to a whole world of apps that can overcome the issues of sight loss.
- Accessibility software for desktop computers and laptops to enable audio or visual access to a range of everyday programmes.
If you would like to discuss these and other solutions in more detail you can have an individual, no obligation assessment at Manchester Central Library.
You will have the opportunity to try some of the products and technology on offer and discuss your needs with expert staff. Find out what is available and how Henshaws can help you maintain your independence through technology.
