Silly Squad Book Review competition
Have you read a dazzlingly good book lately for the Summer Reading Challenge? Then why not tell everyone about it by writing a book review! This isn’t just any old book review though – you can write a book review on the inside of a cereal box or design your own creation with pictures – the funnier the better! Or if you prefer, download our book review template. Remember to tell us what you thought about the book though.
You could include:
- Your favourite character
- How the book made you feel
- What was the best/funniest/weirdest bit
- Did you like the ending, or could you have written a better one?
You could write about these things, or draw them – whatever you fancy.
The competition runs 1 July – 4 September, so you have plenty of reading time. In September, we’ll select a winner from each age category to win a bundle of brand new books and a Kindle Fire.
Our age categories are:
- 4-6 years
- 7-8 years
- 9-10 years
- 11 years plus (up to 13 years)
The Silly Squad made me do it! competition
Our Silly Squad crew of artists, performers and storytellers have created some fantastic videos for the Summer Reading Challenge this year. Our videos will be posted on Manchester Libraries Facebook every day at 11.00, or see them all as they are released on YouTube.
The Silly Squad made me do it! competition invites you to get creative with our artists, authors and storytellers. If you’re inspired by Dommy B and Donavan Christopher to write your own poem, why not share it with us? Perhaps you drew along with Nick Sharratt’s sessions, or created something amazing with ideas from our local artists.
Every week we’ll select a winner and send them a brand new book. Your writing/pictures/creations might also appear on our Facebook page in our Summer Reading Challenge Special Showcase!
How to enter:
To enter both competitions, please email your entries to j.osborne@manchester.gov.uk and don’t forget to tell us your name, age and the Library you use. If you have drawn or built something, you can send us a photo. If you need any advice on how to show us what you’ve done, please contact us to discuss.
Good Luck!
