Since lockdown began, Read Manchester has been busy gifting 20,000 books and other resources to ensure that books are getting into the hands of children who need them the most. Through working with over thirty different partners, we gifted books to playschemes, foodbanks, summer schools, community groups and SureStart centres. See details of our new initiative, the Metrolink inspired Reading Map, in this newsletter.
Most of Manchester Libraries are open again now, lending books and encouraging reading to support educational recovery. There are plenty of ways to get involved in the Library programme, which necessarily looks very different this year. See our range of free offers including online poetry sessions and reading clubs, drama for high schools and a number of ways to get involved in Black History Month.
These offers are available to all Manchester LA schools.
