Wednesday 25th November 9am-8pm
Taking place entirely online on the 25th November 2020, Manchester City of Literature are celebrating all things local publishing!
From the Nobel Prize winning poetry at Carcanet, through to special author readings for children from Hachette and Flapjack, even Manchester University Press who have been publishing books since 1903! It’s guaranteed that there’ll be something for everyone throughout the day with videos from the publishers themselves to show off the latest talent from this vibrant UNESCO City of Literature.
As well as sneak peek of each selection, there will also be flash sales and discount codes on the day, so it’s the perfect place to get tailored Christmas presents for everyone! Do your bit by supporting local and buying indie to show your support for Manchester’s publishers during this difficult year.
Our publishers have really suffered during the pandemic, there’s no live book launches, readings or events where books might normally get bought, and they’ve had to adapt fast to keep up with the changes.
Taking part we have: Carcanet, Comma Press, Commonword, Confingo, Flapjack Press, Fly On The Wall, Hachette Children’s Group, Harper North, Manchester University Press, Nightjar Press, Saraband Books and Seven Arches Press.

Each publisher will get a slot in the day where there will be recommendations and even some live Q&A’s if you’ve always wanted to know something about the world of publishing. A lot of the day will take place Q&A’s with publishers on the Manchester City of Literature Twitter account (@MCRCityofLit) so be sure to follow the hashtag #MCRBookFair and follow the publishers too so you don’t miss out.
