Manchester Libraries was thrilled to host Media Cubs in five libraries during the summer holidays. These free summer camps were run by Media Cubs, a social enterprise which is passionate about introducing children to the newsroom and helping children to see that their views matter. Approximately 100 children attended the Clubs during the summer which were offered weekly in the five libraries. The newsroom summer camps were jam-packed with photography, comic strip-making, newspaper reporting and TV presenting challenges. They were a perfect match with the Summer Reading Challenge and a great opportunity to boost the confidence of the children taking part.

Here’s what the mini reporters thought:

One of our library staff commented that ‘the children are so animated and are enjoying themselves so much!’
