This New Year Abraham Moss Library were delighted to welcome back one of our favourite community groups, WomenZone, to their regular weekly sessions. Like many social groups, WomenZone were unable to meet in person due to Covid restrictions and also due to Abraham Moss Library moving into a new temporary library. Since March 2020 the WomenZone friends have met occasionally in each other’s gardens or online (with a bit of help from free laptops from Manchester Libraries) and sadly have lost some members in the past few months. However group  leaders Carolyn and Joyce were very pleased to resume the group’s partnership with Abraham Moss Library when we were able to offer them an exclusive regular Tuesday morning slot to meet, chat, knit, craft, picnic and socialise in a covid-safe way.

We celebrated their first session with a brew and a lovely Read Manchester offer of a free book to take home or share with each other – in this case, “The Giver of Stars” by acclaimed popular author JoJo Moyes.

The WomenZone group meets weekly at Abraham Moss Library on Crescent Road, Crumpsall, M8 5UF on Tuesdays during termtime only from 11am til 2pm. We’re an free Age Friendly social group although all women of any age are welcome to drop in for a cuppa and a friendly chat. We sometimes have crafts, organise talks or trips to the theatre or galleries but mostly we offer friendship and a safe space for women – we love to just chill out and get together for a natter. The group is free to attend and is adults only as there is no childcare provision. Call the Library on 0161 227 3780 or drop in on a Tuesday from 11am to find out more.
