Manchester Libraries and Read Manchester are pleased to be supporting Our Year throughout 2022. Working with partners, ambassadors and supporters, 2022 Our Year will create opportunities, experiences and resources that together will build a safe, happy, healthy and successful future for Manchester’s children and young people. Our Year aims to create a lasting legacy for children and young people in the city.

Local young people in 70 settings across the city told us these were their priorities:

  • Play
  • Climate/environment
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Equal and included
  • Feeling connected
  • Safe and secure

Manchester Libraries and Read Manchester have a whole host of activities planned for the coming year, including bookgifting, author, poet and illustrator visits for schools, the Summer Reading Challenge and a range of activities, storytimes and more. You’ll find lots of free sessions from Lego club to Science Week activities, reading groups to volunteer opportunities – to help meet those priorities.

And we’re kicking off 2022 Our Year with an exciting new competition. Fantastic local illustrator Ian Morris will be helping us launch the competition in February, and Manchester children will be designing our new range of children’s library cards. Watch out for further information and news of some great prizes too!

Throughout the year and beyond we’ll be keeping you up to date with all our latest news and offers for children and young people in our city.

If you, your community or business would like to get involved and help support Our Year, then please go to Our Year | Celebrating Manchester’s children and young people. This could be offering time, space, resources or sponsorship.
