4 July – 17 September

You’re invited to join our free Summer Reading Challenge with Manchester Libraries and enjoy a summer full of reading and science-inspired activities. This year’s theme is Gadgeteers, so be ready to be wowed by science, innovation and discovery! Our libraries are brimming with new books with a science theme, but you can read whatever books or e-books you like!

Visit your local library to get started by collecting your joining pack and as you read, you’ll be rewarded with stickers. Once you’ve read 6 books you’ll have completed the Challenge and receive your Gadgeteers certificate and medal. Why stop there though?

Why not let Dave the Dragon and Dommy B tell you all about the Challenge?

Activities

As well as reading, you can also get involved in a huge range of free activities with the Gadgeteers this summer when schools break up. Choose from science-inspired arts and crafts, to robot-building sessions, circus skills and even some great sessions with the Science and Industry Museum team on tour. You can find our activities on the Loads to Do website.

Prizes and competitions

There are lots of prizes to be won when you get involved with Gadgeteers. All children who complete the Challenge will be entered into the prize draw to win a £100 voucher. There will also be goody bag winners in every library.

If you enjoy sharing the books you’re reading with others, why not enter our book review competition with Kindle Fires and brand new book bundles as prizes for our top three winners. You can download a book review form or pick one up from your local library.

BorrowBox

You can also read e-books with BorrowBox, but remember to tell library staff that you’d like to join the Challenge and they will update your library record.
