The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May with celebrations happening nationwide over the weekend. 

Communities are being encouraged to celebrate this historic milestone with three days of celebration, including a special bank holiday on Monday 8 May, and public events and activities to mark the occasion. Manchester Libraries

Celebrate at your local library! We’ll be screening the Coronation live in many of our libraries. We’ll even provide the bunting and free hot drinks for your afternoon tea!

Fancy a Lego Coronation challenge? Come along to our special Saturday afternoon session at Central Library.

Street parties

We have a long history of organised street parties in the UK to celebrate national events. These parties are a chance to celebrate and bring the community together for a day of fun.

So, why not organise one with your neighbours for the Coronation? You’re welcome to host parties right across the Coronation weekend, or as part of the Coronation Big Lunches.

Coronation Big Lunches 

Join millions across the UK as they celebrate and take part in a piece of UK history. The Coronation Big Lunch is a chance brings neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun. 

The Big Lunch will take place between the 6 May to the 8 May.

The Big Help Out 

The Big Help Out is a national day of volunteering happening on 8 May. The day is about inspiring people to try volunteering for the first time. 

Thousands of organisations are getting together to mark the Coronation by giving everybody the chance to try volunteering for themselves and make a difference in their community.

Manchester Cathedral coronation event

The Dean of Manchester invites you to join us at Manchester Cathedral to watch the Coronation of King Charles III.

Manchester Cathedral would love the whole community to join us to celebrate this occasion by watching all the action live on big screens in our historic building. 

Join us on May 6 at Manchester Cathedral to watch all the action from the build-up, the Coronation itself to the King’s Procession.

Entry is free of charge and doors will be open at 9.30am after morning prayer.
