Area Manager – Grade 8 – £37,261- £41,496 

We need a senior library manager to join us as an Area Manager, to oversee operations from 5 libraries in our Central Area – Longsight, Arcadia, Hulme, Moss Side Powerhouse and Gorton.  You will work closely with our two other Area Managers and Citywide Services Manager to ensure that our neighbourhood and community libraries continue to provide excellent services for library customers across Manchester.  

You will have experience of delivering and managing library services to residents and be an effective and positive manager with strong interpersonal and customer care skills.  You will also have the proven ability to work both independently and in a team and be experienced at forging strong partnerships with colleagues in other service areas.  For more information on this role, contact Jane McKelvey jane.mckelvey@manchester.gov.uk

Service Development Co-ordinator (Forum) – Grade 6 – £28,900- £32,020 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to develop an expanded cultural offer from Forum Library, working with colleagues at Forum Library, Manchester Libraries, cultural organisations, partner organisations, Wythenshawe residents and grassroots cultural organisations.  You will need experience of delivering and managing services to residents, with high levels of customer service, and have the proven ability to develop and manage partnerships.

Library Manager (Neighbourhood Engagement and Delivery Officer) – Grade 5 – £24,948-27,852 

We have a number of opportunities for forward looking and community focussed library managers to join us, in our Neighbourhood Engagement and Delivery Officer (NEDO) role.  In each of our areas, we have a team of NEDOs who work together to manage the staff who operate our libraries, the library buildings themselves, and all the services delivered from there.  Our NEDOs also develop and deliver activities and events in libraries and across the area, working with a range of agencies and partners such as schools and community groups.  We have two vacancies in our South Area and one job-share vacancy in our North Area (17.5 hours). 

You will need excellent customer service skills, together with experience of ICT and digital delivery, and the ability to positively manage and motivate staff.  We need our staff to be flexible and you would work across a number of libraries, and possibly in other parts of the city as the service requires.  We also need you to have the flexibility to work unsocial hours, including weekends and evenings to meet the needs of the service. Service Development Specialist: Heritage and Archives – Grade 8 – £37,261 – £41,496 

We have an exciting opportunity for a manager at Manchester Archives – Service Development Specialist: Heritage and Archives.  Manchester’s Archive service is considered as a place of best practice nationally.  In addition to running Manchester Archives, we operate the Greater Manchester County Record Office (GMCRO) on behalf of the 10 Local Authorities in Greater Manchester.   You will be responsible for the archives collections and maximising their potential and will manage a team of archivists.  You will also work with colleagues in the library service and Archives+ partners to ensure the collections are used for the benefit of customers. 

The right candidate will be an experienced, qualified Archivist, with a proven track record of managing complex Archives collections and delivering excellent customer service. You will need a Post-Graduate Diploma or Degree in Archive Administration, which is recognised by the Society of Archivists.
