Chorlton Library Children’s Reading group

We have started a new children’s reading group at Chorlton library, the first session happened this week, our reading group is on the first Tuesday of each month, 5-6pm, it is for children aged 7-11 years.

It is a small supportive group where children can feel comfortable sharing thoughts, asking questions and expressing likes and dislikes about books and reading. Whether you are an avid bookworm or a reluctant reader you can harness the power and joy of reading. We will be exploring a range of genres from fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels and poetry broadening children’s reading horizons.

The Reading club session also offers a connected activity, so for the first one we decorated tote bags that will be used as book bags, the designs were inspired by a favourite book or a book that has good memories connected with it. We ended up with some fabulous bags.

Reading groups are a great way to unlock reading joy, imagination, empathy and connection, they can help children step into different worlds and bring joy. We also know that reading lays the foundation for academic success and a lifelong love of learning.

If you would like to go on a reading journey, then join us at our monthly group.

The next session is on Tuesday 2nd December 5-6pm at Chorlton library.

The groups number one rule is: Keep it Fun!
