Libraries Light Up for Spellow Library Reopening

Most libraries in Manchester will today have a candle lit  in a gesture of solidarity, hope and joy to mark the reopening of Spellow Library and Community Hub in Liverpool.  The library was  torched during the summer’s racist riots and is today reopening.

Manchester Libraries are proud to be offering their support alongside other libraries across the country.

When the libraries are closed this evening, a candle of solidarity hope and joy will remain on.

Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Skills, Employment and Leisure says:

“Libraries are at the heart of our communities and are a place where people from all parts of our community come together side-by-side – they are beacons of hope and togetherness. We in Manchester are proud to support our colleagues in Liverpool with the reopening of Spellow Library and Community Hub”
