Manchester Central Library Story Times

Get your little ones involved with The National Year of Reading by coming along to one of our free story times. Manchester Central Library offers a welcoming space for families to meet each other and enjoy regular sessions that support early language development and a love of books. Through simple songs, rhymes and stories, children can begin to explore emotions, language and the world of stories at their own pace. With regular sessions every Tuesday and Thursday morning, along with a variety of multilingual and sensory options, there is something to suit every family!

Weekly ‘Its Storytime!’ – Ages 0 to 3

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday for a fun, interactive session filled with songs and stories, with opportunities to make new friends and discover all that the library has to offer.

Sessions start at 10:30am and 11:30am.

Dual-Language Story Time – Ages 4 to 7

Practice your language skills with us at one of our dual-language story times! These sessions involve a blend of themed stories, songs, rhymes and sometimes a craft activity. Learn new phrases whilst gesturing, chanting, and singing. We can’t wait to meet you!

Languages currently include Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Spanish and Ukrainian. Check Library Live to find out when our next session is!

Brought to you by Manchester Literature Festival, Little Reads is a monthly fun, interactive workshop using drama, dance, songs, play and craft to explore children’s picture books. Most suitable for children aged 2 – 6, but all family members are welcome.

The 3rd Wednesday and 3rd Saturday of each month at 11:30am.

Sensory Story time – Ages 4-7 (flexible depending on individual needs)

Join us for a low-key sensory story time, suitable for children with sensory or autistic spectrum needs. The sessions will consist of a story and 3-4 songs and will aim to be as visual as possible. Check Library Live to find out when our next session is and book your place!
