Get ready for a jam-packed week of activities for all ages at North City Library’s Fun Palaces! This year, we’re diving into Green Libraries Week (7-13 October), celebrating National Poetry Day (Thursday 3 October), and shining a spotlight on Older People’s Day (Tuesday 1 October). There’s something for everyone, so grab your friends, family, and neighbours and come along.


Music for Everyone
First up, we’re thrilled to welcome Intergenerational Music Making for two fabulous workshops. The first session will get you singing and moving. The second session is all about song writing and creating music together. Both sessions are drop-in, so feel free to join just one or both.
Silent Book Club – Where Reading is All About You
Bring your own book, audiobook, comic book, or magazine and enjoy an hour of peaceful reading in our cosy, age-friendly corner. When the hour is up, you can socialise if you like… or not! The library might not be silent, but your reading time certainly will be.
Go Green with Recycling Fun
Let’s talk climate! Drop by our recycling and climate change stalls to discover simple ways we can all make a difference. Manchester City Council’s Climate Change Officer will be talking to you about how you can make a difference in your community be reducing pollution and fighting climate change. meet the folks from Biffa, play a bin sorting game and take a look at some Waste-eater books.
Get Crafty with Your Own Mini Garden
Ready to get your hands a little dirty? Create a mini garden bursting with bees and butterflies! Plant some cress seeds and watch your garden come to life.
Poetry Challenge – Prizes to be Won
Feeling poetic? Take part in our acrostic poem challenge and stand a chance to win a prize! It’s time to get those creative juices flowing and put your words to the test.
