Our World Book Day celebration, ran alongside our partners Transport for Greater Manchester, Read Manchester and National Literacy Trust, has been nominated for a prestigious award! TfGM’s marketing of the event has been shortlisted for the Prolific North Champions Award in the Marketing Campaign of the Year – Culture category. Fellow nominees include Dr Who and Eurovision. The winner of each award is being announced on 9 May. Find out more at the Prolific North website.

The World Book Day event held on 2 March 2023 spread the love of reading across Greater Manchester. Nearly ten thousand books were given away on tram seats and at tram stops and a special event at Manchester Central Library saw World Book Day authors met over 300 school children, who travelled there by tram of course! Read more about it at our World Book Day 2023 blog!

This event built on a partnership between TfGM, Manchester Libraries and Read Manchester which resulted in a specially designed reading map (based on the Metrolink tram map) being installed at Manchester Central Library in 2020. Every child in Years 5 and 6 in Manchester primary schools received a free copy of the map, which is also available to download at our blog page here.
