Blue Peter Book Club Badge Trail

three Blue Peter presenters holding books

We can’t guarantee the weather this summer, but we can guarantee you’ll have fun on our Blue Peter Book Club Live Badge Trail! Twelve special Blue Peter Book Club badges form a trail around the city and your challenge is to find them. There’s even a bonus badge in the Blue Peter Garden in Media City (which makes 13!)

Thirteen fabulous venues have been chosen to host the badges. While you’re there, why not take a look around and see what family-friendly activities are on offer there this summer. You can visit the venues in whichever order you fancy – why not spread the visits out so you can spend some time in each venue? Many of the venues in the city centre are within walking distance, so it’s a perfect opportunity to get some steps in!

Here’s the book trail for you to download…

The venues to tick off are:
Manchester Central Library
Manchester Football Museum
Manchester Art Gallery
Science and Industry Museum
Sackville Park
Z-Arts
Manchester Poetry Library
Longsight Library and Learning Centre
Manchester Museum
Platt Fields Park
Withington Library
Abraham Moss Library and Leisure Centre
Blue Peter Garden in Media City, Salford

Follow the links to check their opening hours. You can also pick up booklets at these venues.

Each badge is decorated to celebrate one of the 12 books in the Blue Peter Book Club. Each badge’s QR code takes you to the Blue Peter website where you can find more information about the book and the author and even some make-and-do activity ideas.

Fancy winning a set of all 12 Book Club books?

On every badge you find, Henry the Blue Peter Dog has a letter! Can you find all 13 letters to create 3 special names? Just fill in your answers on the section in the trail booklet and hand it in to any public library in Manchester. We need your answer forms in by 31 August 2024 to be in with a chance to win.

Why not join the Blue Peter Book Club and apply for your Book Badge?

It’s super easy to join the Blue Peter Book Club – there’s no secret handshake or special code. Choose a book from the list (or you could even read a choice of your own) and start reading. You’re officially a member of the Blue Peter Book Club!

Visit the Blue Peter website – you can share your thoughts with other fans, talk about your favourite books or even send in pictures and selfies. You can also apply for a special Blue Peter Book Badge.

Blue Peter Book Club Live is supported through Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants programme and is a partnership between Manchester Libraries, The Reading Agency and CBBC. The trail runs until 31 August.
