Brooklands Library: A Fresh New Chapter Septembers Library

Tucked away within Dixons Brooklands Academy on Moor Road in Wythenshawe, Brooklands Library is much more than a place to borrow books. It is a welcoming community hub where people of all ages can learn, connect, create, and enjoy a wide range of free activities.

This September, the library has even more reason to celebrate.

Following a short closure, Brooklands Library has undergone a complete makeover. Visitors returning to the library will notice freshly decorated spaces, new carpeting and flooring, an improved layout, and refreshed book collections. The result is a bright, modern environment that feels both inviting and inspiring from the moment you walk through the door. To mark the occasion, the library hosted a special reopening celebration, welcoming residents, council colleagues, ward councillors, and library supporters

No celebration would be complete without cake, and Brooklands certainly didn’t disappoint. Guests enjoyed a grand cake-cutting ceremony along with hot drinks, juice, biscuits, and cupcakes as they gathered to celebrate the library’s fresh start.

One of the highlights of the day was an interactive ZooLab animal handling session. Children had the opportunity to get up close to a variety of fascinating creatures, sparking curiosity and creating memorable learning experiences. The event proved so popular that another ZooLab visit has already been arranged.

The entertainment continued with a performance from a local guitar group, whose music had visitors singing, clapping, and even dancing along to well-loved songs. Their performance brought energy, laughter, and a real sense of community spirit to the celebrations.

The afternoon focused on creativity, with a variety of craft activities designed to inspire visitors of all ages. Participants created felt library card holders, musical shakers, party hats, and even giant pom-pom monsters. Families moved between the different activity stations, proudly showing off their artistic talents and leaving with handmade creations and plenty of smiles.

The event perfectly showcased what makes Brooklands Library special: a place where learning, creativity, and community come together.

MORE EXCITMENT TO COME

If you missed the reopening celebration, there is still a fantastic opportunity to experience the magic of ZooLab. The team will be returning to Brooklands Library to share their expertise and passion for animals, giving visitors the chance to meet an array of unusual and fascinating creatures, including tarantulas, hissing cockroaches, and snakes.
