Creative Space at the Forum Library – November 2024

The Day Centre

Forum Library hosted our first play called ‘The Day Centre’ at the new Creative Space, the play was written and performed by the Community Media Crew. They are such a wonderful and engaging group who work with people who have learning disabilities, including actors who have Down’s syndrome, and actors who are on the autism spectrum. They make films, stage productions and feature films. People can attend from up to three days a week, and they can make friends in a safe and friendly place to work.

This performance echoed and perfectly encapsulated the hyper local community aspect of our space. It was a roaring success with over 100 people in attendance, which included the Lord Mayor and Lord Mayoress of Manchester. It was truly a humbling experience to provide the Community Media Crew with the space to show off how talented they are.

Self Care Week

Self Care Week event taking place at the Forum Creative Space

For Self Care week both Mind Over Matter and Mercury Sounds made the most out of our Performance Space utilising our stage, lights, and sound system. Maria who runs MOM hosted a mindfulness mediation session whilst Mary from MS used our performance space for a sound bath.

Paint Pots Exhibition

Photographs of colourful chairs and artwork

We currently have one of the Forum Libraries longest running arts and crafts group exhibiting a selection of autumnal pieces in the Creative Space. Aptly called Paint Pots, they will be exhibiting their artwork throughout the year.

Wythenshawe Youth Theatre and Music Evermore

Both of the Forum’s Creative Space flagship programmes are going from strength to strength, with the Wythenshawe Youth Theatre making the most out of Creative Space every Sunday. The first few weeks focussed on introducing young people to the Theatre world, with sessions now being more focussed on a variety of disciplines as depicted in the poster.

Music Evermore who host rock band sessions every Monday and Tuesday from 4 – 6 will also be hosting an end of term performance for parents, staff and other engaged stakeholders!
