Creative Space Wythenshawe September Update

September often embodies new beginnings, and we are taking that ethos seriously at the Creative Space. We are excited to announce a range of new partnerships, projects, and workshops which will be detailed below. With the new school term in tow we are also welcoming back our thriving youth projects including Music Evermore, Expressive Artz, TV Acting School, and Wythenshawe Youth Theatre. We have also added Odd Arts and Young Identity to our ever growing roster.
In terms of publicity we have been featured in the Wythenshawe Wave Spring edition where we are now regular contributors. The wonderful Alan Lynch spend a few weeks in Wythenshawe over the summer to record a very special Full Volume Podcast featuring a litany of our partners and service users.

Beaification Poetry Group

The Beatification workshops will be using film, YouTube, audio, and photography to inspire and illustrate the fun skill of writing poetry. It will also aid people who have a story to tell, feelings to share or opinions that need to be heard. There will be biographical workshops that look at particular poets’ lives that will help us to write & be poets. There will be relaxed, informal sessions that have people read their own work and hear other peoples, then be prompted to write new poems. There will be guest poets from around Manchester who will showcase new ways to write. So come along, share your work and learn new ways to improve your writing in a relaxed positive setting.
Drum Therapy Collective

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Drum Therapy Collective who will be bringing their percussive repertoire to the Creative Space. The Drum Therapy Collective are a CIC who provide rhythm-based wellbeing activities and music therapy sessions, with a specific focus on using percussion instruments and drums. Workshops will begin on the 29th of September from 12:00-13:00pm and will be held every other Tuesday at the same time.
OddArts

Odd Arts will be returning to the Creative Space on Saturday afternoons from 16:00-17:00. These sessions will use theatre and creative arts as tools to support and develop young people’s confidence, wellbeing, self-esteem and personal development. By providing free provisions, Odd Arts aim to ensure that the sessions are accessible to young people ensuring that young people can engage with theatre and creativity. Odd Arts use trauma-informed approaches such as restorative communication, which supports our aims of providing space, supportive and inclusive spaces for young people. This supports young people’s social and personal development in building confidence and connection with other young people. Our sessions are also youth-led, with young people informing and participating in decisions around session games and performance creation. The young people are encouraged to share their ideas, which contributes towards their sense of agency and ownership over the sessions.
Young Identity

Young Identity is a Manchester-based literature and performance charity that supports young people aged 13 to 25 to develop their creative writing, spoken word and performance skills. Through free workshops, mentoring, publishing opportunities and live performances, the organisation helps young writers find their voice, build confidence and connect with a wider creative community. This is another major coup in our already thriving youth provision at the Creative Space. It also represents an extension of our performance arts programme by including more poetry focused writing and performance which will only compliment our other offers.
We are really looking forward to the Young Identity Writing and Performance workshops as an organisation, they are synonymous with bringing a unique brand of creative learning and cultural exploration to the Creative Space.
Code Club
Code club is returning in September in conjunction with Pioneer House, a local high school from Northern Moor who visited the library throughout the 2025/2026 academic year. In the sessions last term students used micro:bits to make games, solve puzzles, have fun and whatever our imagination could come up with.

Thanks to a partnership with Datum, the code club is now supplied with eight brand new iPads, allowing us to expand what we’re able to offer to young people throughout the area.
