Manchester recognised as a UNICEF Child Friendly City!

Manchester has been officially recognised as a UNICEF Child Friendly City, reflecting the ongoing commitment to making this city a place where all children and young people can thrive.

The recognition celebrates years of partnership working and the voices of children and young people who have helped shape the programme.

Becoming a UNICEF Child Friendly City is not the end of the journey — it’s a commitment to keep listening and putting children’s rights at the heart of everything we do.

Libraries have been and continue to be key to this recognition.  Libraries are a place where children and young people thrive.  We recently celebrated a project where young people’s voices were heard – the Marcus Rashford Wall of Hope.  We also recently co-created a set of Library Youth Friendly Standards.  And all our libraries are currently full of children doing this year’s summer reading challenge.

Together, we are making Manchester a better place for children and young people.
