This Easter as part of Manchester City Council’s Our Year 2022 (#2022ouryear), and Holiday Activities Fund (#HAF2022), 6 of our libraries held 24 creative activities and workshop sessions.

Over 200 children, mostly 11-16 year olds, attended 4 hour sessions in Central Library, Gorton Library, Wythenshawe Forum Library, Withington Library, Newton Heath Library and Miles Platting Community Library where a free lunch was provided as well as cultural and creative activities. Sessions included craft, DJing, Dance, circus skills, drumming, creative writing, stand up comedy, Dragons Den, graffiti art, film making to name just a few.

The feedback has been incredibly popular with all young people having fun and learning new things.  Comments include “Amazing” “Food was yummy” “I learnt to rap” “Great fun seeing kids being active and interacting with other kids” “I loved everything” “I enjoyed being given the chance to think and create a story for my film” “I will join in in the future” “It was so much fun”
