Miles Platting Community Library is buzzing.

The bee garden at Miles Platting Community Library is a community project started by Jigsaw homes to commemorate those affected by the Manchester Arena bomb. It was started by Jigsaw staff along with support from MCC library staff and local children. The project was created as a community initiative to promote biodiversity and provide a green space for local residents, and was made possible through the collaborative efforts of local volunteers, community groups, and support from the Manchester City Council (MCC), who own the land.

The bee garden is full of beautiful plants (and bees of course), and this year Sisk building contractors generously donated 25 plants this year which have enhanced the existing plants and the bee population which has more than tripled since the plants were bedded in.

Along with the 2 bee hoppers and the small roadway for the children’s bikes the garden is well used by local people. A local dog walking group likes to make it their own when the library is shut.

The bee garden is a great example of community activity helping to support biodiversity and enable nature to thrive in our city. This library is absolutely buzzing
