Chess clubs – South Libraries

Chorlton Library, Didsbury Library, Forum Library and Withington Library
Chorlton, Didsbury, Forum and Withington library all run weekly chess clubs, they have been running for various lengths of time with Forum library chess club being our longest running one. All our clubs are free and open to all, all ages, all abilities, you can turn up alone or with friends. No need to book just come along and join in.




Being part of a chess club and playing against a variety of people with different playing styles and skill levels will improve your personnel game, as well as bringing fun and excitement to your week.
All abilities are welcome to join us, including beginners, they can watch and learn, starting a chess playing journey, but we cannot guarantee someone will be on hand to teach.
The clubs are all supportive, and you will be part of a stimulating community, chatting, playing, making new friends’ with like-minded individuals of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy the game of chess.
Playing chess has many benefits the game sharpens critical thinking, problem solving and decision making as well as strengthening your memory and attention span.
Playing against a variety of people with different playing styes and skill levels, you will learn new tactics and strategies, you will also have time to analyse your game afterwards, and this can be a key part to getting better.

Withington library chess club, Withington library, 410 Wilmslow Road, M20 3BN, Wednesdays 5.30-7.30pm
