Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration

Saturday 9 November

Central Library Performance Space (Ground Floor)

1-4pm

Free – just drop in!

Come and join us in for a unique and special event celebrating Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead), an ancient Mexican tradition. In Mexican culture it is believed that during this time of the year your lost loved ones come back to visit. Family and friends gather together to honour their relatives and friends by cooking their favourite dishes, dancing, playing music, and telling their favourite stories. Families visit their graves and create elaborate beautiful decorated altars in their homes to welcome them. This is all a part of celebrating the cycle of life. This exciting event will feature traditional dances performed by Colibri Mexican Folkdance UK. Here you can see them in action at our Central Library Sunday Funday in June!

There will also be Day of the Dead themed activities and craft workshops. As you can see from this photo, a typical Mexican altar will also be on display! They are present in every Mexican household at this time of the year.

Suitable for all ages! Free entry, no need to book!
