New Creative Space at the Forum Library!

New beginnings and taste of things to come
While the Wythenshawe’s Creative Space at the Forum library may only have opened in mid-October, library staff have already accomplished a great deal in such a short space of time. Our vision of providing accessible and creative provision for the young people of the Wythenshawe.
We officially launched a new and exciting venture in the Creative Space with Wythenshawe Youth Theatre on 13 October. The first session went really well with 25 young people attending on the day. Ash McDowell the technical director, successfully received funding meaning that all sessions are free of charge.

Forum library staff also launched another innovative project on the 14 October, with Music Evermore running rock band sessions every Monday and Tuesday during term time. The beauty of this new initiative is again like the WYT, it is completely free of charge. Each session whilst fun and engaging, is also based on the music curriculum in school, which arguably adds another benefit to the Music Evermore initiative.
New Podcast Initiative

I’m also delighted to announce that we will be partnering with the Spirit of Manchester Award winners, Happy Somedays. They will be using our podcast suite to create and share content primarily around producing podcasts. Josh Deegan, who runs the podcast series states that the idea around the project is to get guests who are Wythenshawe legends, those residents of Wythenshawe who go above and beyond for the community. Rowetta of Happy Mondays fame will be the first guest to use our studio, which is so exciting.
Mindfulness Painting with Live Music Event

Tina Ramos and Johanna Leung ran an exciting and engaging Mindfulness session which utilised many elements of our Creative Space. They used our performance space to create ambient lighting to set the scene, with background music, which was complimented by Joanna’s Clarinet. Both parents and kids alike, began creating art which culminated into one big art piece pictured above.
One of the comments from the parents really encapsulates what we are trying to achieve in the Creative Space;
“It’s very calming and free. I love this place so much. It’s a very calming and relaxing experience.”
