Presented by Afrocats at North City Library

The Afrocats Building Stronger Communities Together Exhibition is a celebration of communities in North Manchester, using creativity to create conversation and draw attention to the unique attributes that make up different communities in the North Manchester area.

Over the course of three months, Afrocats worked with various organisations including: Broadoake Court, No 93, Al Hilal Regen, Simpson Memorial Hall, Artree, A Pedra De Siao, ESOL in Abraham Moss and Sick Festival. Participants created artwork under the theme of community and shared similarities using paint, ceramics and mixed media with the help of art facilitators.

The project aimed to showcase the spirit of North Manchester communities and bring light to the diverse creative talent and voices that live within it.

Afrocats held an exhibition launch and film screening on Monday 22 September which was really well attended with upwards of 50 attendees overall.

Fun Palaces

On the 4th of October, Afrocats held a workshop at North City Library’s Fun Palaces to respond to the exhibition theme of ‘Building Stronger Communities Together‘. As part of this workshop they used pictures of community workers to represent vital people who make up communities. The session was a mixed media workshop where children created colourful collages and artworks related to the theme of the exhibition which is to celebrate the unique and diverse qualities that make up the fabric of communities.

The exhibition will be in place at North City Library until early January 2026 and is free to view. The opening hours of the library are as follows:
